Say Goodbye to 1 cent coin

Say Goodbye to 1 cent coin

The end of 1 cent coins in Ireland.

Say a farewell to the Irish copper coin, as the National Payments Plan have been trialling with removing the currency from circulation.  A trial was run in Wexford last year, and the feedback from consumers and retailers was positive. The trial rounded it to the nearest five cent coin. 85% of consumers and 100% of retailers believe the coin should be removed.

The coins actually cost the state as their face value in metal is worth more than the coin itself.

The 1 cent coins are copper coated, made of steel, and for us consumers it means less fumbling around for these small coins.

We will be making Cufflinks from there, as we bulk purchased lots of the 1 cent coins so have plenty of years in stock….it mightn’t be a big deal now, but the kids of today may like a set in years to come from the year they were born. Or at least their friends might if they are stock for gift ideas !
